Park View Set to Honor Jeff Lageman Friday Night

Sterling (Oct. 5, 2006) – Park View High School is all set to honor
one of its greatest football players in its 30-year history when the
Patriots retire former UVa and NFL star Jeff Lageman’s jersey in a
ceremony prior to Friday’s game against Martinsburg (WV).

The ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. with kickoff pushed back to
7:40 p.m. Admission to the game, a match-up between 4-0 Park View and
4-1 Martinsburg. The West Virginia team has defeated Group AA Dulles
District opponents Broad Run and Potomac Falls back-to-back by a
combined score of 77-21. The Partiots are coming off a 48-7 win over
Briar Woods in which senior running back Deric Dudinski set a school
record with 406 rushing yards and six touchdowns.

The forecast calls for a possibility of rain and the Patriots will
have a tent on hand just in case to keep the ceremony dry. Park View
principal Dr. Virginia Minshew will open the ceremony program followed
by Patriot Athletic Director Joe Breining Jr. and then former Park View
football coach Ed Scott.

Lageman attended Park View from 1981 to 1985 where he was a standout in both baseball and football.

He attended Virginia from 1985 to 1989 where he played linebacker
and defensive end. Lageman was selected as an all ACC player both his
junior and senior seasons. The undersized defensive end was taken in
the first round of the NFL draft by the New York Jets.

Lageman’s NFL career spanned 10 seasons, the first six in New York
with the Jets and the final four with expansion Jacksonville. He
totalled 47 career sacks with his best year in 1991 when he recorded 10
sacks for the Jets.

During his time in Jacksonville, Lageman, an avid hunter and
fisherman, began his broadcasting career with a radio show title “The
Outdoors Show”. After his playing days finished, Lageman began a
working as a color analyst for FOX. Today, Lageman works for both the
Jaguars Radio Network as a color analyst and serves as co-host fo the
weekly “Jaguars This Week” radio show and he is a castmember of the
weekly television program “The Jaguars Show”. Lageman is also a
long-time supporter of the Children’s Miracle Network.
