Sterling (Mar. 21, 2007) – Park View High School senior Nichole
Pitcock didn’t pitch the last two years as Brittany Gardner, now a
starting pitcher at Syracuse as a college freshman, was the ace of the
staff. Pitcock is now in the spotlight in the pitching circle and she
made the most of her opportunity as she led the Patriots to a 9-1 AA
Dulles District win Tuesday with a 14-strikeout, 2-hit performance
against Freedom.
The game was scoreless until the Patriots put four on the board in
the bottom of the third inning. Freedom didn’t score off Pitcock until
the seventh.
Pitcock allowed just one walk in the win.
Senior Amber Dudek and junior Emily Garcia paced the Patriots
offensively with three hits and two runs batted in each. Freshman
Sammy Gleason made her debut a memorable one, collecting three hits and
playing flawlessly at third base. Junior Laura Heironimus drove in two
runs in the 4-run third and got credit for the game-winning RBI.
Park View scrimmages AAA Robinson High School Wednesday and then travels to meet District foe Loudoun County on Friday evening.
