Sterling (Aug. 16, 2007) – The Potomac Falls High School golf team
defeated a much-improved Park View squad Thursday at Algonkian,
354-368, in a AA Dulles District dual match.
Storms delayed the start by an hour before the Panthers, fresh off
of Wednesday’s district mini-tournament win, put out a line-up that
included only two of its six regulars. Juniors Michael Tondi and Jake
Orpin led the way for PF with 85 and 88, respectively. Senior Ryan
Yakscoe shot 90 and freshman Scott Trump, in his high school debut,
finished at 91.
Park View came in after season-opening scores of 390 and 393 but the
Patriots gave PF something to think about as freshman Jake Wilton
scored 89 and junior Johnny Mason shot 91 followed by sophomore Joey
Antonacci’s 93. Junior Trevor Scales finished the scoring with a 95.
“Park View played very well today,” said Potomac Falls coach Dave Quirin.
Potomac Falls is 1-1 in district dual meets and Park View is 0-2.
Both teams will play Monday again at Algonkian as the district meets
for its second mini-tournament. The Panthers can put a stranglehold on
repeating their regular-season title with a victory Monday.
