(May
6, 2008) – There wasn’t a lot of track and field action this weekend
but the area girls still had plenty to cheer about as defending AA
state champion Park View won a meet with 20-plus teams in Maryland at
Howard County and Dominion and Stone Bridge girls put up National Elite
marks at the Gar-Field Invitational in Woodbridge.
Among the
highlights were plenty of Area Best marks including Dominion’s Jennifer
Weatherly in the the 100 and 200, Stone Bridge’s Stephanie Paradis in
the 800, Stone Bridge’s Naomi Session in the 100 hurdles and long jump
and Stone Bridge’s Chelsea Robinson in the triple jump. Park View’s
Lauren Tomlinson had the area’s #2 in the shot and there were plenty of
marks to make the top three including Park View’s Charlene Fowler in
the 100, Park View’s Julia Anyaugo in the 300 hurdles and Robinson in
the long jump. On the boys side, Park View’s Kevin Welch had an Area #2
discus mark and Stone Bridge’s David Wang is now top three in the shot.
