Sterling (May 18, 2008) – After being shocked last year in the AA Dulles District baseball tournament quarterfinals by Freedom, the Park View High School Patriots no doubt felt a bad case of deja vu Saturday as they went into the bottom of the sixth inning, trailing No. 6 seed Briar Woods, 1-0.

“I was thinking in the back of my mind: ‘here we go again’,” said Park View coach Mickey Leap.

The Patriots however had no sense of history and they finally got to BW brilliant starter Ian Hickman in the sixth.

Junior Ben Rosado started the winning rally with a line drive to right field. Sophomore Adam Flees followed with a sacrifice bunt to move Rosado to second.

Sophomore Drew Mason (2-for-3) then ripped a triple to right field that the Falcon outfielder initially came in on but the ball was all the way back to the fence and the game was tied 1-1.

Senior Billy Bradley (2-for-3) cranked a triple to deep center to put PV ahead, 2-1.

Junior Jonathan Mason then capped the rally with a battling at-bat, working back from an 0-2 count, fouling off several pitches before depositing the ball over the right field fence for a two-run home run.

“That is one of the best at-bats I have seen all year,” said Leap.

Jimmy Kerby threw his fourth straight compete game for the victory.

Park View now travels to Potomac Falls on Tuesday for a semifinal game at 6 p.m. The Patriots and Panthers split in the regular season.
