(Aug. 23, 2008) – The AA Dulles District high school golf season moved full swing into the dual meet action Thursday with a full slate of action. Briar Woods, Broad Run, Loudoun County and Potomac Falls all came away with victories.

Briar Woods defeated Freedom at South Riding, 151-160; Broad Run held off a feisty Dominion squad, 155-161, at Lansdowne; Loudoun County handled Heritage, 161-173; and Potomac Falls knocked off neighbor Park View, 163-173, at Lowes Island. All play was nine holes.

Briar Woods 151, Freedom 160
Despite the slippery greens and narrow fairways at South Riding – and the absence of Carl Brendes and Michael Birmingham at a junior golf event — the Falcons posted four scores in the 30s with freshman Adam Ochs shooting even par 36 with Jon Howard just one over at 37. Robbie Mitchell and Ryan Geckler both closed with 39.

BW coach Bob Vitti reports that the shot of the day for BW was Mitchell’s approach on No. 9 which was within inches of rolling in, even though he was left with a hefty birdie putt.

Alex Choi led the Eagles with a 37 followed by Jason Scrivo at 39 and Tyler Blake and Nick Lee both at 42.

BW has never lost to Freedom in golf, winning in 21 consecutive events against their mid-county rivals.

Broad Run 155, Dominion 161
Ryan Cartee fired a 37 and Isaac Wharton (38) and Tyler Campos (39) added strong roounds for the Spartans in the dual meet win.  Andrew Londos shot 41 for BR.

Dominion was led by a 39 from Dalton Brown and 40 by Kevin Cook. Michael Biller (41) and Rich Boudreau (41) rounded out the Titan scoring.

Loudoun County 161, Heritage 173
Brantley Kushner led the Raiders with a 39 followed closely by Kevin Cook (40), Michael Walker (41) and Dan Jackson (41).

Potomac Falls 163, Park View 173
Michael Tondi (39) and Brett Johnson (40) led the Panthers to the dual meet victory Thursday. Scott Trump and Shon Raven each shot 42 to round out the scoring for PF.

Park View was led by Jake Wilton at 40 followed by Josh Carter (41), Trevor Scales (44) and Steven Balik (48).
