Friday Oct. 3, 2008 Scoreboard

AA Dulles District

Briar Woods 7, Dominion 0
The Skinny: Falcons make a Ray Taliaferro 3-yard run in the second quarter stand up as the BW defense limits Dominion 36 total yards, keeping explosive RB Deandre Reaves to just 40 yards on 20 carries. BW piled up 293 total yards but three turnovers and 10 penalties kept BW from scoring more. Taliaferro finished with 142 yards on 18 carries. The Titans had more interceptions (3) than completions (2) with BW’s Jeremy Gray collecting two of the picks. BW 1-1, 4-1. Dom 1-1, 1-4.

Broad Run 21, Heritage 13
The Skinny: Two Chris Jessop-to-Adrian Flemming TDs in the second quarter erased a 7-0 Pride lead. Breon Earl’s short punt return for a score provided the final cushion as Josh Thiel hit two second half field goals for Heritage. Pride QB Zach Gordon got the Homecoming crowd fired up with a first quarter score to Dan Dykema. Heritage drove to the Spartan 2 in the waning minutes only to have Joseph Walter intercept a pass in the end zone and return it 57 yards. BR then ran the clock out. Ross Madison gained 131 yards on 25 attempts for the Pride. BR 2-0, 5-0. Her 0-2, 3-2.

Potomac Falls 47, Loudoun County 14
The Skinny: The big play Panthers had four scoring plays of 38 or more yards in the game including Michael Baker with a 59-yard run and 38-yard fumble return and Greg Woodlief with a 67 run and 40 yard pass to Tarrell Owens. The Raiders intercepted three passes in the first half but couldn’t take advantage as they were giving up four fumlbes as the two teams combined for seven turnovers in the first half, five in the second quarter alone. PF turned a 6-0 advantage into a 27-0 with three scores in a 93-second span in the second quarter. PF 2-0, 5-0. LC 1-1, 3-2.

Park View 41, Freedom 13
The Skinny: Patriots even up their district mark and set up a big game next week as they host undefeated Potomac Falls. Brandon Lee had a big game at QB for the Pats, throwing for four scores, two each to Tommy Sedeski and Josh Jones, and rushing for TDs. Lee finished with 193 yards passing and 90 yards rushing. Luke Bratton threw two scores for Freedom. PV 1-1, 2-3. Free 0-2, 1-4.

AAA Liberty District

Stone Bridge 51, South Lakes 6
The Skinny: Bulldogs led only 29-0 at the half … yes we are being a bit dry here. Patrick Thompson celebrated his Wake Forest comittment by scoring on three runs and throwing a TD pass to John Bladel (we knew him when he was Johnny!). Daniel Allen had a TD run and Mike Olson (hey, he’s going to Wake also!) had an interception return for a score. Abdul Shaban has attempted so many extra points this season that he is filing for workman’s comp. Seahawks good rushing game was grounded to just three yards on 24 attempts. Bulldogs are averaging 51.6 points per game so call this just an “average SB win”! SB 3-0, 6-0. SL 0-3, 1-5.

Westfield 41, Woodson 6
The Skinny: Cavs fall in non-district game to powerhouse Bulldogs. WTW 3-0, 4-2.

The Skinny: Culpeper has been held to a total of nine points in its four losses. Non-District affair. Culp 0-2, 1-4.
