Sterling (Oct. 4, 2008) – Some of the top competitive cheer teams in the area, including Northern Region AAA powers Centreville and Stone Bridge, will compete at tonight’s Spiritfest Cheerleading Invitational at Park View High School.

DigiatalSports.com will have coverage of all the Northern Region and Dulles District  teams at the meet.

ADMISSION: $5.00 per person

RULES AND SCORE SHEETS: The current National Federation Spirit Rule Book, and the VHSL Regulations distributed in League Notes shall govern this competition. The VHSL State score sheet will be used.

FACILITIES: A matted warm-up area with a high ceiling will be provided.  The competition area will be matted on the school’s main gym floor.


 


PARTICIPANTS: A maximum of 20 varsity squad participants will be allowed to compete.  Up to four alternates will be admitted and allowed to sit with the team. Any non-varsity member competing MUST be an active member in good standing of your current Freshman or JV squad. A Freshman or JV cheerleader may move up to replace an injured athlete or to increase the size of the squad up to 20.


 


PERFORMANCE: Each squad will be introduced before entering the competition floor.  At the conclusion of the routine the squad shall vacate the competition floor and may sit in the stands.


 


ROUTINE AND MUSIC: The routine must be a minimum of two minutes and thirty seconds (150 seconds) and not exceed three minutes (180 seconds).  The music portion of the routine must not exceed 90 seconds.  Coaches or team participants must cue and play their own music.


 


COMPETITION OFFICIALS: A panel of three judges to adjudicate the competition routine, two safety judges to identify deductions of safety and execution regulations, two timers (one for music and one for overall routine length), an announcer, a sound technician, a licensed trainer, and a meet director.


 


SCORE SHEETS: Coaches will receive copies of their squad’s score sheets at the end of the competition.


 


JUDGING CRITERIA:  The following categories will be judged up to the maximum points shown by each category.  A perfect score is 100 points. The judges’ scores will be TOTALED and any safety judges deductions would then be taken.  Judges will be seated in the middle section of the bleachers.

AWARDS:  Awards will be given to 1stand 2nd place teams, and an overall sportsmanship award will be given. Individual medals for each member of the 1st place and 2nd place team will also be given.
