Leesburg (Oct. 22, 2008) – The Potomac Falls High School competitive cheer team captured the AA Dulles District title Wednesday night at Heritage High School with a score of 227 points. Broad Run, Heritage and Dominion also advanced to Regionals which will be held Nov. 1 at Orange County High School. The event, sponsored by DigitalSports.com which has agreed to sponsor all Dulles District championship events for the 2008-09 school year, drew a large and animated crowd.
The Panthers, district and Region II champions in 2006, out-distanced the competition by 18.5 points.
Broad Run, 2005 and 2007 district champion and AA state runner-up the past two seasons, was second Wednesday with 208.5, followed by host Heritage with a score of 201. Dominion claimed the fourth and final spot with 192.
Loudoun County just missed advancing to Regionals with a score of 190.5. Briar Woods (173), Freedom (172.5) and Park View (131) rounded out the field.
