Wrestling: Terry McGowan Invitational at Park View

Sterling (Dec. 14. 2008) – Bishop O’Connell captured the 30th edition of the Sterling Lions Club Terry McGowan Invitational Saturday at Park View High School.

Potomac Falls was runner-up and Briar Woods senior Mike Fleming earned milestone victory No. 100. Fleming went on to win the 171-pound weight class.

O’Connell won the event with 219.5 points, just 7.5 points ahead of the Panthers. O’Connell captures seven individual titles including six straight finals matches from 119 pounds to 145 pounds.

Potomac Falls placed eight wrestlers in the finals but took home just two indivdiual titles, Aaron Rowane at 160 and Zach Duffin at heavyweight.

Host Park View took the first two finals with Tuan Dang at 103 also winning the tournament’s sportsmanship award.
