The Briar Woods girls team came in second place Friday and was leading Potomac Falls by as much as 18 points during the meet, but the Panthers were able to win a few key races and the final race to put them ahead by 3 points for the win.  “It was exciting to have such great competition this year,” said Potomac Falls Coach Flowers. “Winning this year means more than it ever has.”

The Potomac Falls girls won the 200 Yard Medley Relay, a race they have won every year since 2006.  Seniors Kirby Shook has been on that winning team all four years.  Joining  Shook on that winning relay team were Carla Harvey and Bridget Werner and Taylor Ayers.  Harvey, Shook and Warner then teamed this Caylyn Tate to win the 200 Freestyle relay.  “I’ve grown alot with all these people, they’re not only my teammates and classmates, but they’ve grown to be my really good friends and as cheesy as it sounds, my family, and I’m going to miss them alot next year,” said Caylyn Tate.  Tate also won the 500 Freestyle race with a time of 5:09:73.  Werner also won the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time 1:00.21.  Kirby Shook said, “to see everyone come together, especially in the last moments like that, and pull it together for the team is so exciting.” Shook also won the 50 freestyle with a time of 25:40.

Broad run has now won this event for the fourth consecutive year. Mark Sarman, Andrew Tram and Mike Poltash were this years team.  Junior Cameron Lucas, who has been on that team for the past 3 years said, “We have great depth, it’s not whose first, it’s not whose second, it’s whose third, fourth and fifth. We just have a great team.” Mark Sarman, Andrew Tram and Mike Poltash were the others on this years 200 Medley Relay team.  Mike Poltash also teamed with Brendan LewisAlan Horback and Jacob Leidy to win the 200 Freestyle Relay.  To finish off the night Lucas, Sarman, Leidy and Lewis set a distict record with a time of 3:25:93…just nipping the PF boys record from 2006 by 1/100 of a second.  Lucas also took first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:00:55 finishing almost 8 seconds ahead of second place and he won the 500 Freestyle race with a time of 5:03:28.   Sarman broke the 100 Fly record with a time of 52.09 (previously set in 2006 by Bryan Durazo -52.35).
