Basketball: Loudoun to Send 8 Teams to Region II Tournament

(Feb. 18, 2009) – More than half of the AA Dulles District boys basketball teams have qualified for the Region II tournament under the new expanded divisional format.

In Division 4, four of the six boys teams in the playoffs will be from Loudoun as Broad Run, Loudoun County, Park View and Potomac Falls all advance. Park View finished fifth in the district but defeated Potomac Falls last night in the distric quarterfinals.

In Division 3, Dulles District champion Dominion looks to have a bye in the regional quarterfinals already in hand.

On the girls side, Dulles District 3 champion Freedom is in as well as Broad Run and Loudoun County in Division 4. Briar Woods needs to upset Freedom in the district semifinals on Friday in order to keep its Divison 3 playoff hopes alive.
