After Fowler set down Freedom in order in the first, Briar Woods took control with five runs in the home half of the inning. Junior Holly Dominguez reached on an error, moved to second on a sacrifice by

sophomore Kristina Karagiorgis and scored on a sharp single by Jones, who later came home when sophomore Kasey Ball reached on a dropped flyball in the outfield.

Fowler followed with a single to plate Ball to make it a 3-0 contest, and senior Kelsey Young and sophomore Alex Fierszt added RBI singles later in the inning.

The Falcons padded their lead with three more runs in the fifth. Junior Hayley Olson reached on an error to start the inning and Fowler followed with a hard single off the third baseman’s glove. A wild pitch moved

both runners up, and sophomore Jillian Olson roped a single down the left field line to score her sister. An error on the play also allowed Fowler to score. Jillian Olson later came home on a groundout by

Dominguez.

Fowler (3-1) allowed just a leadoff single in the third inning and struck out eight, including the side in the fourth. She lowered her earned run average to 0.32 and has allowed 17 hits while striking out 23

and walking just one in 22 innings this season.

Jones earned the save with three perfect innings of relief. After getting the first batter she faced to ground out to, Jones retired the final seven batters of the game by strikeout.
