Dulles District Boys Soccer Race Comes Down to the Wire

Dulles District Regular Season Races

Boys Soccer
Broad Run (9-4-0, 27 points) could have clinched the regular season title Monday night but Potomac Falls (6-5-1, 19 points) blew the Spartans away, 4-0, in a rainstorm in Sterling. That leaves the door open for Loudoun County (8-3-2, 26 points) and Park View (7-4-1, 22 points). Here is what each team needs to win the title and automatic bid to the Region II tournament:
Broad Run: win against Dominion tonight and they are in. Tie and they are in if LC loses and Park View doesn’t win twice. If BR ties and Park View wins twice, the Spartans and Patriots would finish with 28 points each. If BR loses and LC ties and PV doesn’t win both, then BR and LC would both finish with 27 points.
LC: win at Heritage tonight and BR loses and Raiders win title. If the Spartans lose and LC ties, then the two teams would both finish with 27 points.
PV: needs BR to lose and LC to lose and tie and then two victories over Freedom and Briar Woods would give Pats the title.

Girls Soccer
Broad Run (11-0-1) has already clinched the title and regional bid.

Baseabll
Potomac Falls (11-0) has already clinched the title and regional bid.

Softball
Broad Run (11-0) has already clinched the title and regional bid.

*****Two teams will advance from the district into each tournament to the Region II tournament with the second team selected via the district tournament (either the tournament champion or runner-up if the regualar season champ wins).

Wet Conditions Delay Start of Dulles Lax Tourney’s Until Monday

(May 7, 2009) – How bad are field conditions after days and days of rain? Consider that the Stone Bridge High School boys soccer team in a bid to get in their Senior Night home game against South Lakes — a game already moved twice — are now playing the game at Marshall High School tonight on their turf field.
The Bulldogs who just played a game Wednesday night at Marshall — beating the Statemen 3-0 in rainy conditions that featured several downpours — will have to hold Senior Night now when they open the AAA Liberty District tournament on Monday with a quarterfinal at home.
Even some of the games that got in Wednesday night, probably shouldn’t have as Stone Bridge prevailed over Langley in baseball, 8-3, in a five-inning game with poor conditions.
Dulles District athletic directors have already decided to postponed tonight’s boys and girls lacrosse quarterfinals — moving the tournament start back to Monday. The semifinals are now slated for Wed. May 13 and finals are Thurs. May 14.
Also, Park View sent word just before 2 p.m. than the baseball doubleheader, softball game and girls soccer match have all ben postponed tonight as they have standing water still on the playing fields. The Best of the Rest track and field meet will go on with no field events.

The district lacrosse games have been canceled for today.  We are hoping to play them tomorrow, with the girls at 5pm, boys at 6:30, followed by varsity boys soccer at 8pm. 
If our field is unplayable, we will move the lacrosse games to Shenandoah University (5/6:30), and cancel the soccer game here.

Varsity boys lacrosse as of now is on at 7:30 unless rain moves in prior to
game time.  The Dulles District Tournament will begin tomorrow.  Times and
locations are TBA.

Baseball-
Varsity baseball at Heritage is postponed until tomorrow at 6pm at Heritage.

May Gloom: Rain Scuttles Schedule Again

(May 4, 2009) – Say, May, say it ain’t so.
The wet weather of April has moved into May and everything in Loudoun is postponed on Monday May 4. The Briar Woods girls lascrosse team is still on for tonight at George Mason where the Mustangs have a turf field.
Here are what the schools are telling us:
Broad Run
All Broad Run  games scheduled for today, have been postponed. 
Lacrosse to Wed. the Boys @ BR will be Varsity only after track meet 7:45 or so
Tennis also to Wed
