Park View Preserves Perfect Record

Sterling (Oct. 16, 2007) – If a football team ever needed a
“pick-me-up” it was Park View High School Friday night with 2:07 left
as upset-minded Potomac Falls had just scored its second touchdown in
less than four minutes – on a blocked punt no less – to take the lead,
14-13.

Enter Patriot senior wide receiver Ryan Pick, who had two
big catches in the game at the time but one of them, a 51-yarder in the
second quarter ended in a fumble as he tried to make a move and turn
the play into a 86-yard score.

“We have been telling ourselves
all season that we need to play like state champions and I entered the
huddle and said ‘state champions find ways to win these types of
game’,” said Pick.

Showing the guts of a Texas Hold’Em player
bluffing his way with a 2-7 in the hole, Park View coach Andy Hill
called for a trick play that would require Pick to field a backwards
“bounce pass” from C.J. Leizear and then the WR would throw across the
field to running back Eric Johnston.

“I wasn’t worried about the
bounce,” said Pick who had to wonder, however, about the pass as the
last time he attempted one in a game was back in 8th grade. “The coach
made a gutsy call on the play.”

Indeed. The play worked as
planned as Leizear’s spiral skimmed past sophomore receiver Tommy
Sedeski, who did a bit of play-acting as if was truly a failed pass to
him, and Pick fielded the lateral which made it legal for him to heave
the pass to Johnston along the Patriot sidelines for a 25-yard gain.

The
previous week the same play had been botched against Freedom for a
turnover as the bounce pass deflected off Sedeski’s leg. This time it
was just the “pick-me-up” the Patriots needed.

Before the
Panthers even had time to calculate what had just happened. Leizear
took the snap from the PF 46 and rolled to the right. With plenty of
time to look downfield as the Panthers had little pursuit on the senior
quarterback, Pick drifted all the way behind the Panther secondary and
caught a 50-yard heave by Leizear in the end zone for the game-winning
touchdown. A two-point run by Johnston made the final score 21-14.

“We
played as a team tonight; a team that left everything on the field,”
said Potomac Falls coach Scott Woodlief. “There are a lot of broken
hearts in the locker room.”

Park View (3-0 in AA Dulles District,
6-0 overall) came in as a heavy favorite against Potomac Falls (1-2,
2-4), but the Panthers, despite five turnovers and a blocked field
goal, hung around in the game thanks to four turnovers, the blocked
punt and a dozen penalties by the error-prone Patriots.

“We’ve been saying all year that we can’t play careless with the football and expect to win,” said Hill.

Park
View dominated the firs half with Leizear throwing for 213 of his 294
yards and the Patriots out-gaining the Panthers in total yards, 242-94.
Park View, however, led just 6-0 at the half.

That scoring drive
was very impressive as the Patriots went 97 yards on 12 plays after
Sedeski picked off Potomac Falls quarterback Greg Woodlief on the Park
View 3.

The scoring drive, which took over five minutes, started
with four straight running plays to four different runners – Leizear
for five yards on a keeper, lineman-converted-fullback Thomas Mulabah
on a 7-yard dive, Sedeski for six from the wideout spot and Johnston
stopped for a loss by Potomac Falls senior Dominic Turner who had a
good night on the defense.

Trying to slow down the PF blitz on
3-and-6 from the Park View 19, Leizear hit Sedeski (93 yards on four
catches, all in the first half) on a screen pass for eight yards.
Leizear then hit Danny Foley (4 receptions for 63 yards and two
touchdowns) for eight yards.

Turner was again the backfield to
throw Johnston for a loss. Both starting running backs in the game had
trouble getting room to run with Johnston limited to 13 yards on nine
carries and Potomac Falls junior Michael Baker held to 18 yards on 12
carries.

On 3rd-and-3 from their own 34, Leizear (46 yards
rushing on 13 attempts) kept the ball behind the blocking of Johnston
to net eight and a first down.

Leizear tried to hook up with
Foley on a crossing route, by the two-way started Woodlief was waiting
and he laid a bone-jarring hit on Foley to separate him from the ball.

PF
tried to go after Leizear as he dropped back to pass on the next play
but the Pats again had a screen pass called at the right time and
Johnston collected the ball and rambled 19 yards to the Panther 39.
Foley then had the best revenge for that earlier hit as he picked up 30
yards on the next play to put the Patriots just inside the 10.

Two
plays later, Leizear hit Foley in the end zone with 1:08 remaining in
the half. The extra point attempt failed and it was 6-0.

Typical
of the game was the final 68 seconds – or so as there were major clock
operator problems during the game with time added or taken away by the
officials at least four times – of the first half. Nothing was every
just normal.

First Potomac Falls could not run out the clock as
three dives to Baker totaled only seven yards and Park View burned some
time outs to give them the ball back with 20 seconds on their own 39.

Then
Turner, yet again in the right spot for Potomac Falls, tipped a Leizear
pass into the hands of PF lineman Ryan Mehalic, who later would recover
the punt blocked by teammate David Zedan in the end zone for a fourth
quarter score. Mehalic had a glimpse at making it to the end zone this
time but he was stopped on the PV 31 with 11 seconds left. After an
incompletion, Potomac Falls trotted out junior kicker Asa Fox, who had
made a kick as time expired in the first half the week before that
turned out to be the game winner in a 23-20 victory over Loudoun County.

This
time, the Patriots smothered the 48-yard attempt before it barely got
out of the holder’s hands and for the next 10 seconds the ball bounced
around the field and in and out of Park View player’s hands in
something that looked like a highlight film from an old Oakland Raider
finish. The ball did not find the end zone and the half was finished.

Park
View’s lead was not any larger at this point as the Pats had turned the
ball over on down deep in Panther territory on their first series of
the night, despite a 58-yard pass play to Sedeski out of Park View’s
new single-wing look. On that play, one sure to be of interest to
future opponents, Johnston took a direct snap and then handed it to
Mulabah near the line of scrimmage, who pitched it back to Leizear, who
then threw a strike to Sedeski.

Later Park View turned it over on
downs at their own 44 on a series that included one play with two
turnovers as Potomac Falls junior Chris Pelto picked off Leizear only
to have the ball stripped and recovered by Johnston.

The drought
conditions left a thin layer of dust hovering over the field and the
ball was slippery than a greased pig at times. Later in the first half,
the two teams would trade turnovers on consecutive plays as Pelto
fumbled after an 11-yard completion and the ball was recovered by PV
junior Josh Jones, who would end the night by intercepting PF’s bid for
a final comeback.

Pelto would later have a phenomenal touchdown
catch in the fourth quarter and he finished the night with 117 yards on
eight receptions. PF sophomore Tarrell Owens added 61 yards on six
catches. Woodlief was able to throw for 186 yards on 16 of 30 passing
despite the loss of top receiver Chad McMichael, still out with an
injury.

Right after Jones’s fumble recovery, Pick lost the handle after picking up 51 yards.

PF
wasn’t able to establish much of an offense in the first half but the
Panthers owned the third quarter, running 19 plays from scrimmage to
Park View’s two to start the second half. The Patriots were hurt by a
turnover on Leizear’s first attempt of the third quarter, another
tipped ball, this time by Mehalic, who had a night to remember, and
intercepted by Baker.

The Panthers first drive of the half lasted
10 plays but went just 25 yards as a holding penalty stalled things.
The drive after the interception picked up 30 yards on nine plays to
the Patriot 24 but a botched snap on 4th-and-1 was recovered by Patriot
senior Nash Cook in the Panther backfield.

The third quarter ended with Alexander Rice and Zedan teaming to sack Leizear at his own 10 to force a PV punt.

When
PF went 3-and-out and Park View put together a 66-yard scoring drive on
10 plays, culminating on a Leizear-to-Foley 11-yard score, it appeared
the game was fairly out of reach with Park View ahead 13-0 and 7:43 to
play.

The Panthers, showing a great spirit, stepped up and
Woodlief guided the team 68 yards in just six plays with Pelto making a
jump-ball catch on one play for a 29-yard gain and then scoring on a
catch in the corner of the end zone on a 19-yard pass play that showed
a nice touch from Woodlief and Pelto’s great ability to bring the ball
down while keeping one foot just in.

The play was good enough
that Hill could be heard on the Park View sidelines to say “nice play”
as his defense had great coverage on Pelto. Fox’s extra point made it
13-7 with 5:59 to play.

Park View then started playing like a
team that was bent on losing the lead. On the first two plays from
scrimmage after the PF score, Leizear had a pass almost picked off by
Pelto and then Owens and Woodlief tipped around a pass attempt before
it hit the ground.

The Patriots elected to go for it on 4th-and-2
from their own 25 with 4:45 remaining and Leizear just got the first
down, by the length of a football on the measurement.

PV was
going to go for it again on fourth down but a delay of game penalty,
the second on the discombobulated series, left 4th-and-9 from the Pats
28. PF which had loaded up on one side earlier and almost blocked a
punt, shifted the formation the other direction and Zedan blocked
Foley’s punt and Mehalic sprawled on the football in the end zone.
Fox’s extra point was good for a shocking 14-13 lead with 2:07 left.

“Our Achilles Heel is special teams,” said Hill. “I think it’s a confidence thing but give them credit on the punt block.”

Sedeski
then picked up 26 yards on the ensuring kickoff return after fielding
the ball at the 3 to start the game-winning series at the PV 29 and
set-up the “pick-me-up” ending.

PF actually was able to move the
ball back inside the Park View 10 with, Woodlief hitting Pelto on what
would have been a 30-yard pass play with 45 seconds left but a late
flag on the play nullified the game on a holding call. The Panthers,
moved back to midfield, Woodlief tried two more shots with the second
picked off by Jones at the PV 30 and returned to the PF 41.

For
Park View, a team that saw a potential state title run ended in the
first round of the playoffs last year on a late turnover and then long
field goal by Louisa as time expired, the near miss Friday can be a
defining moment on the season, either negative or positive.

“We
can either go one of two ways after this. There is no middle ground.
Either we will be an unstoppable force or we are going to start to
doubt ourselves,” said Hill.

Park View will find out this Friday
when they host Briar Woods (2-1, 5-1). Potomac Falls travels to South
Riding to play Freedom (0-3, 0-6).

Winless Raiders Prove Tough Test for Patriots

Football sponsored by  The Original steakhouse

By: Dan Sousa

Leesburg (Oct. 2, 2007) – The match-up between the unbeaten Park View Patriots and the winless Loudoun County Raiders seemed to be quite the mismatch entering last Friday night’s game. On paper. However, the resilient young men who put on the navy blue and gold did not care much about games on paper, and they used this game to send a message to the rest of the Dulles District. While Park View would pull out a 51-26 victory, this game was closer than it seemed.

The Patriots were set to receive the opening kickoff when Loudoun County threw the first punch.

A semi-onside kick made it to the second level of the Patriot return team where it was
mishandled, allowing the Raiders to pounce on the ball. This opening event would foreshadow
an ominous first half for the Patriots.

After holding the Raiders on defense, the Patriots methodically marched down the field using a
mix of running and pass plays. The drive was capped with a 6-yard scoring strike from CJ
Leizear to Danny Foley. On the ensuing possession, the Patriot defense held strong, forcing a
Loudoun County punt. Eric Johnston came off the defensive left side of the ball to block the
punt, a ball which was scooped up by Brandon Absher who raced 30 yards for the touchdown.

The Patriots would once again hold on defense, giving the ball back to their offense with under
two minutes remaining in the first quarter. Leizear would connect with Ryan Pick for a 36-yard
gain that took the Patriots to the Raiders’ 10-yard line, and he would find Danny Foley in the
back corner of the endzone on final play of the first quarter. The 21-0 lead after 12:00 of play
would not be enough to knock out the Raiders.

The second quarter belonged to the Raiders. Remaining persistent in their running attack, and
taking advantage of some penalties and special teams miscues by the Patriots, the Raiders would quickly find themselves back in this contest. The Raiders first touchdown would come after a defensive stop (highlighted by a 15-yard personal foul on the Patriots) pinned Park View deep in its own territory. The untested Patriot punt team had the punt hit a teammate and was downed at the Patriot 10-yard line. The Raiders would score two plays later on a 1-yard run by QB Joe Bushrod. Continuing with their aggressive game plan, the Raiders again caught the Patriots sleeping on an onside kick, giving the ball back to Loudoun County in Park View territory.

Bushrod would reach the endzone again on an 8-yard run, cutting the score to 21-14 with 2:03
remaining in the quarter. Park View’s offense, after spending the majority of the second quarter
on the sideline, would strike quickly, marching 61 yards on 5 plays, capped by a 25-yard run by
Eric Johnston. The drive only consumed 49 seconds, giving the Raiders an opportunity to strikeback. Bushrod would connect with senior receiver Jack Lewis for a 39-yard scoring strike with 30 seconds remaining, cutting the lead to 27-20 for the Patriots. The offensive fireworks were not over, however, as the Patriots would see a fast-paced drive end at the Raider 20-yard line as time expired in the first half.

The Patriots would go to work in the third quarter. Defensive adjustments by Defensive
Coordinator Mick Mullins seemed to give the Patriots the advantage in stopping the Raider
running attack. On the Raiders first series, the Patriot defense held and forced a Raider punt.

Johnston would once again break free off of the defensive left side for a clean block, and this
time the ball bounced right back into his arms as he went untouched the remaining 8 yards into
the endzone. After holding the Raiders again, the next Patriot drive saw three consecutive
completions from Leizear to Tommy Sedeski, the third of which accounted for a 6-yard
touchdown. Only moments later the combination would connect once again for an 18-yard score to move the Patriot lead to 48-20. The final Patriot score would come a minute into the fourth quarter when Clayton Parker made a 20-yard field goal, his fourth field goal of the season.

The Raiders showed that they had no quit inside of them. Loudoun County put together a solid
drive in the fourth quarter, capped by a 10-yard touchdown run by Jenkins, moving the score to 51-26.

The Park View defense was led by Garrett Smith who registered a season and career high 14
tackles, including 2.5 sacks. Thomas Mulabah had 12 tackles, and Eric Johnston added 11
tackles to go along with his two blocked punts. Offensively CJ Leizear completed 21 of 30
passes for 314 yards. Tommy Sedeski had 6 receptions for 104 yards and 2 TD, Ryan Pick had
4 receptions for 66 yards (and had a 70-yard TD reception called back due to penalty), and
Danny Foley had 5 receptions for 48 yards and 2 TD. Eric Johnston continued to be a dual threat with 102 yards of total offense (5 carries for 60 yards and 3 receptions for 42 yards) in addition to his defensive performance.

The Patriots move to 4-0 and face Freedom High School (0-4) on Friday night.

Uspet-Minded Raiders Give PV a Contest

Football sponsored by  The Original steakhouse

By: Dowell Muse

Leesburg (Oct. 2, 2007) –  The Loudoun County High School Raiders entertained the Park View Patriots on Friday night in Leesburg still looking for their first win of the season and after the first half of football, an upset seemed entirely possible.  However, the Patriots took care of business in the second  half  by running off  24 unanswered  points  as they  rolled to a 51-26  win behind the passing of C.J. Leizear and the running and receiving of Tommy Sedeski, Eric Johnston and Danny Foley.

Loudoun County opened the game by recovering on onside kick. However, the Raider offense led by quarterback Joe Bushrod, starting in place of injured Kelly Reimers, was unable to move the ball.  After being stopped on fourth down, the Patriots quickly moved the ball 65 yards for their first score on Leizear’s first TD throw of the night, a 6 yard toss to Danny Foley.

On the Raiders next possession, Eric Johnston blocked a Raider punt which was recovered by Brandon Absher for a second Patriot touchdown, and it looked to be a long night for the hometown Raiders.  After another LC possession went nowhere, Leizear hooked up with a throw to Ryan Pick to the LC 10 yard line, and after a personal foul penalty on the Raiders,  hit Foley again from 5 yards out and the Patriots were in command as  the first quarter ended  21-0.

The Raiders got themselves back in the game in the second quarter when with 6:20 remaining, a blocked punt by the defensive line led to a first and goal on the Patriot 9 yard line.  Joe Bushrod ran for 8 yards to the one yard line and on the next play, Adam Yesuf bullied his way into the end zone for LC’s first score, however Yousef was stopped on the subsequent 2 point conversion attempt making the score 21-6.

The Raiders recovered their second onside kick of the night and with 5:52 seconds left in the half, took over at the Park View 47.  Behind the running of Bushrod and Yesuf, and aided by a 15 year roughing the passer penalty on the Patriots,  the Raiders  quickly moved  to the PV  12 yard line.  On  fourth and one,  Yesuf burst through the Patriot line for a huge first down to the 8 yard line and with 2:03 left in the half, Bushrod on an 8 yard run and two point conversion brought LC within 21-14.

On the ensuing kick off, the Patriots took over at the Raider 38 and quickly moved the length of the field with Eric Johnston taking it in from the 25 yard line.  The extra point attempt was blocked leaving the score 27-14 Patriots.

After a failed onside attempt by the Patriots, the Raiders took over at their own 45 and with 30 seconds left in the half, Bushrod hit wideout Jack Lewis with a 39 yard touchdown strike drawing LC to within seven at 27-20.  The two point conversion failed as the first half ended.

The Patriots returned to the field for the second half seeking to regain momentum and control of the game and were quickly successful.  A second blocked punt of the night by Eric Johnston at the 9:36 mark of the third quarter led to a 21 yard touchdown by Johnston making the score 34-20, and on their next possession, Leizear connected with Tommy Sedeski on a 43 yard throw the LC 6 where on second and goal from the 6, Leizear’s third TD of the night to Sedeski at the 3:54 mark put the Patriots firmly in charge 41-20.

Not to be outdone by LC, the Patriots recovered their own onside kick and with 2:10 left in a third quarter completely dominated the Patriots, Leizear’s fourth TD of the night, this time an 18 yarder again to Sedeski, put the Patriots up 48-20.

A 20 yard field goal by Clayton Parker completed the scoring for PV with 9:19 left in the game.

However, the Raiders showed no quit.   Freshman running back Elliott Baker ran 30 yards to the Patriot 10 with 2:00 left in the game and on the ensuing play, completed the scoring for LC with a ten yard TD run for the final score of 51-26.

The Raiders will again be seeking that elusive first win for Head Coach Todd Hill on October 5, 2007 when they travel to Potomac Falls to take on the Panthers.  Game time is 7:30 PM.

LPS Power Rankings

1. Stone Bridge (4-1)

Last week: Defeated McLean, 38-0

Previous Ranking: No. 2

The
Skinny: Here is your SAT Prep Question for the Week: Stone Bridge is to
the LPS Power Rankings  as (blank) is to the college football AP Poll.
After losing to Robinson, 41-14, we wondered how SB would “bounce back”
… like a bungee jumper off the Golden Gate Bridge … the Bulldogs
first defense has not allowed a point in 12 quarters since and the team
has given up just seven points total in the three-game span,
out-scoring opponents, 122-7. No truth to the rumor that the Bulldog
bus returned from McLean Friday with a Highlander kilt stuck to the
front grill.

Next week: vs. South Lakes (1-4)

2. Park View (4-0)

Last week: Defeated No. 10 Loudoun County, 51-26

Previous Ranking: No. 1

The
Skinny: Answer to your SAT Prep Question: LSU. That is right … if the
AP can swap LSU and USC after last weekend, than by goodness, we can
swap Stone Bridge and Park View! Giving up 26 points to a team your
capable of shutting out is one reason the Pats are here … Kenny Smith
was best known as a tight end but his injury, along with others, took
some of the depth out of the PV defense as well. Of course, if SB is
LSU, then Park View is USC … which means, if the game is  close at
halftime, they will make the adjustments and come out strong in the
second half.

Next week: vs. No. 10 Freedom (0-4)

3. Broad Run (4-0)

Last week: Defeated No. 4 Briar Woods, 21-15

Previous Ranking: No. 3

The
Skinny: BR Special Teams were indeed “Special” Friday as the two
biggest plays of the game may have been a Briar Woods punt blocked and
returned for a TD by the Spartans and a fake punt that kept a drive
alive long enough to not give Alex Munro and Co. enough time to come
back. For awhile if felt like the last team with the ball would win.
And Chris Jessop’s interception in the waning seconds gave BR the ball
one last time.

Next week: vs. No. 5 Heritage (3-1)

4. Briar Woods (3-1)

Last week: Lost to No. 3 Broad Run, 21-15

Previous Ranking: No. 4

The
Skinny: Yes, Virginia, the Falcons are for “real” and almost 3,000 fans
came to witness that fact in a great high school football game Friday
in “downtown Brambleton” … try and Google that! Next up: Midseason D3
“playoff game” with Dominion. If BW keeps winning, the school will have
build an aux. parking lot for football games.

Next week: @ No. 6 Dominion (2-2)

5. Heritage (3-1)

Last week: Defeated  No. 7 Potomac Falls, 15-0

Previous Ranking: No. 5

The
Skinny: Pride are looking better and better. “Defense is not for nice
kids” … we think we heard Heritage defensive coordinator Jason
“Choppy” Burke say that at a practice once … if not, the LPS Monkey
wants the t-shirt slogan rights. The numbers are looking up for
Heritage since an opening loss to South Lakes: 3 – number of wins and 2
– number of injured quarterbacks back in the fold. Next up is a battle
for first place against the Spartans which have had 43 running backs
carry the ball this season, including a team manager, two cheerleaders
and the band’s oboe player.

Next week: @ Broad Run (4-0)

6. Dominion (2-2)

Last week: Defeated Freedom, 35-7

Previous Ranking: No. 6

The
Skinny: How elusive is freshman running back Deandre Reaves … well,
you can’t catch him to get his name spelled right … the freshman back
had another big night (182 yards rushing, three TDs including a kickoff
return) … and we have seen his name as “Deandre” and then “De Andre”
and finally, according to our trusted source (a fellow named Kronos
that lives in Titan-land … hey, its Greek Mythology as we try to
teach the young free of charge!) that his named is actually spelled
“Deondre” … We are asking the family if we can simply call the kid
“TD Reaves”.

Next week: vs. Briar Woods (3-1)

7. Potomac Falls (1-3)

Last week: Lost to Heritage, 15-0

Previous Ranking: No. 7

The
Skinny: PF has not been able to get much of a running game going and
the Panthers had trouble protecting quarterback Greg Woodlief and that
spells Trouble with a capital T. PF has what amounts to a “must-win”
game Friday at home vs. County in what is essentially a match-up of two
winless teams but the Raiders had the much better Friday.

Next week: vs. No. 9 Loudoun County (0-4)

8. Loudoun Valley (1-3)

Last week: Lost to Osbourn Park, 10-0

Previous Ranking: No. 8

The
Skinny: Well … if the Stone Bridge second defensive unt hadn’t played
the second half two weeks ago, the Vikes would be looking at eight
straight scoreless quarters. Basically it has been harder for LV to
score than it has for the county to find a new school site in that
area. And undefeated Fauquier comes to town Friday. Don’t count LV out
as the program has a lot of pride but there aren’t many easy opponents
in the AAA Cedar Run District.

Next week: vs. Fauqier (4-0)

9. Loudoun County (0-4)

Last week: Lost to No. 1 Park View, 51-26

Previous Ranking: No. 10

The
Skinny: How in the world does a team that has lost 15 straight games
… move up in the Rankings!?! Well, score 20 points in a quarter
against an undefeated Park View team is a pretty good start. Or as
Larry David would say, “pretty, pretty, pretty good.” (If you have to
ask, you don’t get HBO). We think Todd Hill has the Raider program
headed in the right direction … thus they are on the rise in the
rankings.

Next week: @ No. 7 Potomac Falls (1-3)

10. Freedom (0-4)

Last week: Lost to No. 6 Dominion, 35-7

Previous Ranking: No. 9

The
Skinny: Eagles have to follow Friday’s loss  with two-time defending
district champion Park View. Schedule makers … have a heart! (Ha! If
you are paying attention then you know we wrote that last week for LC
and look what happened … when we heard that PV-LC halftime score, the
LPS Monkey choked on his Chick-fil-A sandwich … thank goodness the
Spartan mascot (Sammy Sparta?) gave the Little Guy the Heimlich).

Next week: @ No. 2 Park View (4-0)

A Closer Look

Fri. Sept. 28, 2007

Broad Run 21, Briar Woods 15

Game story:Dan Sousa on Broad Run’s “Special Teams” Win over BW

Box:Broad Run 21, Briar Woods 15

That’s a Fact Jack!:
Broad Run has not made the playoffs in the last decade. The Spartans
were 1-9 two years ago before Michael Burnett took over as head coach
and have gone 9-5 since, including winning 7 of the last 8 games.

Extra Point:
Friday’s crowd was so big that cars were backed up on Belmont Ridge
Road trying to get into the BW’s parking lot at kickoff time.

Park View 51, Loudoun County 26

Game Story:Dowell Muse on Upset-Minded LC vs. Park View

Box:Park View 51, Loudoun County 26

That’s a Fact Jack!:
PV C.J. Leizear has already thrown for 1,126 yards this season and 13
touchdowns and is on pace to throw for more than 2,800 yards and 32
touchdowns.

Extra Point: Winless LC came into the game with 27 points in three games and almosted matched that total with 20 in the second quarter.

Bonus Coverage: A second story on Park View’s 51-26 win over LC

Heritage 15, Potomac Falls 0

Game Story:Heritage Shuts Down PF Offense

Box:Heritage 15, Potomac Falls 0

That’s a Fact Jack!
QB Kyle Nelson threw two touchdown passes for Heritage. He started the
season injured and his back-up, Zach Gordon, was also injured when the
Pride lost their opener to South Lakes.

Extra Point:
PF has already lost more games on the field (4) than they lost all of
last year (3) but the Panthers record is 1-3 because of Martinsburg WV
having to forfeit.

Dominion 35, Freedom 7

Game Story:Dominion’s 35-7 Win over Freedom

BoxDominion 35, Freedom 7

That’s a Fact Jack!
Titan freshman Deondre Reaves was just about on hi season average with
182 yards on Friday. He has a chance at this pace to break his
brother’s C.J.’s school rushing mark.

Extra Point Freedom has given up at least 180-plus rushing performances to a single back in all four losses this year.

Stone Bridge 38, McLean 0

Game Story:The Barta’s Detail Stone Bridge’s 38-0 win over McLean

Box:Stone Bridge 38, McLean 0

That’s a Fact Jack!
The Bulldogs have shutout two of the last three opponents and with one
more shutout would set a school mark for clean slates in a season. The
first defensive unit has not given up a point since the loss to
Robinson, a span of 12 quarters.

Extra Point:
There will come a day when a Liberty District team defeats Stone Bridge
… we just aren’t sure if it will happen in our lifetime … SB now
18-0 lifetime vs. Liberty opponents since moving up to AAA in 2005.

Osbourn Park 10, Loudoun Valley 0

Game Story:Valley Sputters in Cedar Run District Debut

Box:Osbourn Park 10, Loudoun Valley 0

That’s a Fact Jack!:
Friday’s loss was the Vikes first-ever game in the AAA Cedar Run
District. The last two years Valley played in the National District and
before that in the Dulles Disrict.

Extra Point: LV’s top running back Brian Oden was out of action Friday.
