Park
View played the evening end of the doubleheader against AAA Herndon.
The Patriots scored 7 runs in the sixth to blow open a close game and
won by a final score of 10-1.  Laura Heironimus threw her second
complete game of the day and earned her 7th victory against only two
defeats.  The lone run was unearned and dropped her ERA to 1.51 for the
season.  Sam Louk, Becca Patton and Sam Gleason all had two hits for
the Patriots—Becca also had four RBIs.  Miranda Kinney delivered a key
pinch hit base hit to drive in a run in the sixth.  The Patriots
improved to 8-4 on the season  (7-2 in the Dulles District) and host
Dominion tomorrow night at 6.
Park View got behind 3-0 in the third but answered with three of their
own in the bottom half of the inning on their way to an 8-3 victory
over District foe, Potomac Falls.  Sam Gleason and Ally Rupard both had
two hits for the Patriots, leading a 10 hit attack.  Emily Garcia and
Brittany Griffin each drove in two runs.  The game was played as the
first of a doubleheader Wednesday night.  Laura Heironimus was credited
with the win after throwing another complete game, giving up four hits
and striking out eight.  Her record now stands at 6-2.

Date: 25 April 2008 Park View 5, Heritage 3
Park
View overcame the late return of three of their senior team leaders
from their physics field trip to eke out a 5-3 victory over a much
improved Heritage Pride softball team.  Robin Heironimus picked up her
first win as a pitcher at Park View with her second complete game of
the season.  Based on her showing tonight, her victory was likely  the
first of many.  Heritage jumped off to a 3-0 lead before she settled
down and retired the last 16 hitters.  The team started with nine
players as three of the senior team leaders were held up in traffic on
their return from the field trip.  All three contributed greatly,
however, in the come from behind win.  Emily Garcia had a hit and drove
in a run; Sam Louk also had a hit and Laura Heironimus led off the
all-important sixth inning with a hit and scored the tying run.
Offensively, Felicia Price, Ally Rupard, Brittany Griffin and Rebecca
Patton all had two hits apiece—part of a 13 hit attack by the
Patriots.  Robin pitched all seven innings amassing 13 strikeouts and
walking nobody—a very sound effort for the freshman.  Park View hosts
Dominion on Monday, Potomac Falls on Tuesday, Herndon on Wednesday and
travels back to Dominion on Friday next week—lots of softball to go
around.

Date: 24 April 2008 Park View 13, Loudoun County 10
Park
View avenged its opening game loss by beating Loudoun County 13-10 in a
wild, error-filled slugfest.  The two teams combined for 32 hits—20 by
Park View.  Park View overcame a number of errors—so many, in fact,
that although 10 runs were scored by County, only three were earned.
This game was quite a contrast to the first one.  Laura Heironimus went
the distance and got the win to up her record to 5-2.  Park View moved
to 5-4 on the season.  Leading the offense was Robin Heironimus, Emily
Garcia, Sam Louk and Brittany Griffin—all with three hits for the
Patriots.  Brittany drove in three runs with two doubles.  As the
softball pundits are apt to say, sometimes you take the W and move
on—it wasn’t pretty but it’s a W.  Park View hosts Heritage tomorrow
night and has four games scheduled for the following week—Monday,
Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Date: 18 April 2008 Park View  18  Freedom  0
Park View evened its record at 4-4 with a one-sided victory over
District foe Freedom on Friday night.  Laura Heironimus pitched an
outstanding game, overcoming a pair of first inning walks to settle in
and dominate the Eagles.  The game was called after five innings and
Laura had 7 strikeouts and gave up just two hits.  It’s her third
shutout of the season. Laura’s record now stands at 4-2.  Offensively,
the evening belonged to Emily Garcia, Sam Louk and Brittany Griffin—all
of whom had three hits.  Kristin Oravetz had two hits including a
two-run triple that traveled high and far.   Ally Rupard continued her
productive season with 3 RBIs.  Robin Heironimus added a double to her
impressive freshman year, as well.  Miranda Kinney came off the bench
to collect a two run single in a big third inning.
Park View plays three games next week—at Stone Bridge on Monday, at
Loudoun County on Tuesday and  home against  Heritage on Friday.  A win
over Loudoun County would put Park View in a tie for second in the
District.

Date: 16 April 2008 L Valley  6  Park View 5
Park
View lost its third one-run game of the season with a heartbreaking
seventh inning loss to Loudoun Valley.  Loudoun  Valley scored two in
the sixth and one in the seventh to claim their victory.  Laura
Heironimus threw five innings giving up three runs on four hits.  Her
sister, Robin entered in the sixth inning but was unable to silence the
Viking bats.   Park View has been unable to put together the timely
hits to put games away—they stranded seven runners in the first three
innings and 11 overall.  Emily Garcia continued her productive spring
with two hits, two runs scored and two runs batted in.  She and Rebecca
Patton each collected two hits for the Patriots.  Park View travels to
Freedom—South Riding on Friday night for their sixth District game.
Park View’s record stands at 3-4 overall (3-2 Dulles District).

Date: 15 April 2008 Park View  6  Briar Woods  3
Park
View evened its record at 3-3 (3-2 Dulles District) with a 6-3 victory
over District rival Briar Woods.  Laura Heironimus picked up the
victory to raise her record to 3-2.  She gave up 7 hits, struck out 8
and walked only 2.  Park View had 11 hits on the evening and were led
by Felicia Price, Emily Garcia and Brittany Griffin with two hits
apiece.  Rebecca Patton drove in two runs in the fourth to give the
Patriots a 6-1 lead.  A Briar Woods home run cut the lead to 6-3 in the
sixth but Laura capped the game off with a strong 1-2-3 inning in the
seventh.  Park View travels to Loudoun Valley tomorrow to take on the
Vikings at 5:00.  They travel to Freedom on Friday evening.

Date: 11 April 2008 Broad Run  3  Park View  0
Park
View fell to 2-3 on the season with a 3-0 loss to Broad Run.  Broad
Run’s Caitlyn Delahaba pitched a perfect game against the Patriots.
She struck out 15 of the 21 Park View hitters.  Broad Run jumped off to
an early 2-0 lead when Karla Powell hit a two-run homer in the first.
They followed with another run in the third.  Laura Heironimus pitched
a complete game for the Patriots, giving up only five hits while
walking five and striking out four.   These three runs represent the
first earned runs charged against Laura in her four games.  Her record
fell to 2-2.  Park View looks to get back on the winning track as they
host Briar Woods on Tuesday evening.  Games next week also include
traveling to Loudoun Valley on Wednesday and Freedom on Friday.

Date: 10 April 2008 Park View  4  Potomac Falls 0
Park
View evened its record at 2-2 with a Dulles District win over Potomac
Falls.  Laura Heironimus was the winning pitcher, throwing her second
shutout of the young season while striking out 11 and giving up only
three hits.  She has yet to give up an earned run going into Friday
night’s showdown with Broad Run—the number 5 ranked team in the
nation.  Leading the Patriots offensively were Felicia Price and Ally
Rupard, both with two hits. One of Felicia’s hits was a triple.  Emily
Garcia also had a triple for Park View.  Robin Heironimus drove in two
runs on the evening. All in all, the Patriots gathered 10 hits.  The
final score was 4-0. The Panthers from Potomac Falls (6-2) never
reached third base in this game.   Tomorrow night is Broad Run, in
Ashburn.

Date: 9 April 2008 Jefferson, WV  5 Park View 4
Park
View fell behind 5-0 to Jefferson and stormed back with four runs in
the seventh but lost their second game in three tries thus far.  After
a week of postponements, it was great to get back on a field but two
timely Jefferson home runs made the difference.  Freshman Robin
Heironimus absorbed the loss pitching a complete game, giving up 8 hits
and striking out 6.  The game-winner fell just over the fence and
outstretched glove of Felicia Price in left field.  The Patriot
comeback was started by sophomore Sam Gleason and culminated in four
runs being plated. Park View had runners on second and third when the
final out was recorded by Jefferson.  It was Jefferson’s 14th game of
the year.  Leading the Patriots offensively was senior Felicia Price
and freshman Ally Rupard, each with two hits. The Patriots had 8 hits
on the evening, four in the seventh.  Park View’s record is now 1-2
going into Thursday’s game against league rival Potomac Falls.

Date: 1 April 2008 Park View 13  Heritage  0
Park
View got back on the winning track with a victory over Heritage on
Tuesday night.  Senior Laura Heironimus dominated on the mound with 15
strikeouts, giving up two hits—both in the seventh inning.
Offensively, the Patriots were led by Senior Emily Garcia who had three
hits and scored three runs.  Sophomore Rebecca Patton had 5 RBIs with
her two doubles and Sophomores Sam Gleason and Brittany Griffin also
collected two hits.  All in all, the Patriots collected 14 hits, four
of them for extra bases.  The victory evens Park View’s record at 1-1
with two games remaining this week. Hayfield visits Park View on
Thursday and Park View travels to Potomac Falls on Friday evening.

Date: 28 March 2008 Loudoun County  2 Park View  1
Park
View opened its season with a tough loss to Loudoun County on Friday
night.  Senior Laura Heironimus pitched well but lost on two unearned
runs.  She struck out four while giving up five hits. Both runs scored
when Junior Second Baseman Kristin Oravetz was unable to haul in a soft
liner just out of her reach with runners on second and third and two
outs in the fifth.  She got an outstanding jump on the ball and
momentarily had it in the web of her glove but it worked its way free
and with two outs and both runners moving, County was able to score the
tying and go-ahead runs just ahead of right fielder Sam Gleason’s
throw. Park View committed three errors on the evening—one of which led
to the two-run inning.  Offensively, Park View was led by senior
Felicia Price and freshman Robin Heironimus who collected two hits
apiece.  Seniors Emily Garcia and Sam Louk and  sophomore Brittany
Griffin also had base hits.
The Patriots play three games next week—at Heritage on Tuesday, at home
against Hayfield on Thursday and at Potomac Falls on Friday.
